Carlson-LaVine has a wealth of experience creating healthcare solutions that work. With over 1,000 hospital and clinic projects under its belt, Carlson-LaVine can anticipate the unique challenges and can walk clients through major decisions that will ensure seamless flow from pre-planning to completion.

Building facilities for healthcare requires attention to considerations not typical in other construction endeavors. Pre-construction planning to address such issues as material, soundproofing, privacy concerns, traffic flow, secure record storage, infection control, clean rooms, patient comfort and convenience, lighting, and proper siting of complementary services is critical to ensure that a building, once constructed or remodeled, will serve its intended purpose effectively. It should also provide maximum flexibility to accommodate for growth and longevity.

Carlson-LaVine was awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for construction of the Fairview Bass Lake Clinic in Maple Grove, Minnesota. This project, the first fully green medical facility in the Twin Cities, provides a clear example of a seamless interface between the client, the community, and the Carlson-LaVine team of experts.

Building environmentally responsible healthcare facilities is not only good for the environment, it makes complete sense in terms of underscoring the quality of life and well-being that the healthcare community promotes. At Carlson-LaVine, green building practices start before the project begins. We work with our clients to ensure that every facet of the project makes an environmentally favorable contribution. The first fully LEED-certified medical facility in the Twin Cities was a Carlson-LaVine project for Fairview Health Services. Teamwork was an essential requisite in getting this project done. We not only stayed on schedule and budget, but exceeded the client’s expectations in multiple ways, producing a result that got national recognition for its environmental sensitivity and contributions. The success of this project established an important benchmark in design and construction, and demonstrated that LEED certification can and should be considered on every construction project. Carlson-LaVine has the knowledge, ability, and experience to make it happen.
